Just to recap, this is the original state...
After rubbish removal, some pruning and clearing...
The finished (planted out) garden. All these plants are natives except for the Gazania at the front. There are 3 Wharariki (Mountain Flax or Phormium Cookanium) at the back. I can't recall now what those native grasses are called in the middle.
The Wharariki and the grasses are a lot larger now, but the area is looking a little sad at present. It needs a tidy up but I've had other projects I've been working on. The Gazania did really well for months and months with an amazing display of flowers... and then they died. The birds that dig for weta and worms came along and constantly scattered the woodchips in piles on top of the Gazania totally suffocating them.
I'm currently thinking of another plan of attack...
